About Us
“Helping People Achieve Their Potential”
Operation Bootstrap, Inc., the Lynn Center for Adult Learners, is now in its 35th year of operations. Since 1976 Bootstrap has served some 25,000 families from the Greater Lynn, MA area - providing opportunities to learn English or gain a high school equivalency (GED, preparing immigrants to become U.S. citizens, and providing pathways towards economic self-sufficiency. Operation Bootstrap serves those adults in our community who wish to improve their skills: adults who do not have a high school diploma; immigrants seeking to learn English; youth (16 or older) who have dropped out of school. Currently, Operation Bootstrap offers day and evening classes in five program areas: Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Career Exploration, Basic Computer Skills, and U.S. Citizenship. Most of our students are from Lynn, but we also serve individuals from other North Shore communities. Our current group of students come from 35 countries around the world. Two thirds are enrolled in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses and one third are enrolled in Adult Basic Education courses.
